Lost GPS Watch :(
-
Topic created by ErikEddy on Tue Mar 18, 2014 at 8:35 amAt some point my Garmin Forerunner 310X fell off my wrist during my run Sunday on Hibernia Red and did not notice until the finish
. I ran my course @ 1PM, and retraced my steps 2x after but was unable to find it.
I recall hearing my mile autolap beep once, possibly twice, but definately not 3 times so I most likely lost it between 4-9 and likely 4-15. After 15 is possible, but not before 4.
If anyone is looking for some extra practice @ Hibernia, please keep an eye out for my watch (Red was a combination of Brown and Green). It is pretty big and shouldn't be that hard to spot if walking by it (https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/into-sports/running/forerunner-310xt/prod27335.html). My approximate route is on Routegadget.
You would be my hero if you spot it!
Thanks,

Reply by ErikEddy on Tue Mar 18, 2014 at 8:34 pmIt was only a few feet before #13 on Red. Surprised I didn't see it the first three times. I remember falling between 12-15 in sight of a control but thought it was 12 or 15. Was just too focused!

Reply by Len on Tue Mar 18, 2014 at 9:03 pmThat is good news.I was thinking it's too bad the watches couldnt self download or you could remote download via the satellite connection. Then you could see the track and where is stopped. Maybe that's the next million dollar idea :)

Reply by hughmac4 on Wed Mar 19, 2014 at 5:07 pmIt's amazing that you found it! Well done Erik.@Len: the new Garmin Forerunners (and probably lots of other watches) will 'LiveTrack' if paired with a smartphone that's running their app. I was going to do it at Hibernia so my dad could live vicariously, but forgot. I've done it on a couple of runs ... pretty nice, not as cumbersome as I suspected that it was going to be, and didn't uber-drain my battery either (on watch or phone), so I think they did it right and it's a win. And the 'find me if lost' element makes it even more compelling! Good idea. You might be able to play a good game of Fox and Hounds with that too ...
