Spring has officially arrived a few hours ago, the snow has melted, the vegetation is still minimal, and the forcast for Sunday is dry and cool.  So come out to Governor Dick for some orienteering!  The course notes have been posted on the schedule page, and a volunteer sign-up has also been posted.  Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Hope to see you on Sunday.

Yes, Very nice day... could have been a bit warmer but we'll get there. Great Green course. I'll still lamenting if I made the right route choice on leg 12 :)
And Hugh, Thanks for getting RG up so fast.

Thanks to everyone who came out, and to first time course setter Sam Kolins for doing such a great job! All I heard was positive feedback throughout the day about utilizing the good sections of the park, etc.  Don't forget to leave Sam some feedback here, everyone.

Mary, it looked like your beginners program was very successful, too! Thanks to all the volunteers for coming out in the chilly weather.

I wasn't there, but from I got to admire the blue course (so far) on RG. It is a brilliant course. Way to go! I'm so sorry I missed that.

Yes, what a great park and course design.  It was one of those courses where I kept thinking "wow, this is fun".  Liked the balance of route choice long legs (esp. 3-4 on Blue), rocky technical, point-to-point, varying leg lengths, and French Creek style in mostly white woods.

Also had a first timer walk the Orange and really enjoyed the nicely designed course with plenty of opportunity for off trail adventure.  And Lauren had fun on her 2nd yellow course with her friend: she found them all this time, so you have a one up on me, Sam.

When I saw an unfamiliar name as course setter at Gov Dick, I thought, "oh no, recipe for disaster", because this map has plenty of places that will provide miserable experiences. However it also has great possibilities if handled carefully. Even until Clem's post, I was scared to look at Routegadget, but I just checked out all the courses, and miracle of miracles, I think they are indeed a very good set of courses for all levels. I can now believe the positive comments, and the plausibly good set of results/times that confirm the experience.
    A good example to follow.
Congratulations to Sam and any others involved.

Course setting for the first time gave me much more appreciation for the work that is done on a weekly basis to make events run. In addition to all of the volunteers you saw during the event and had a chance to thank in person, I would like to give a big thank you to the people who helped behind the scenes. Tom Overbaugh looked at a draft of the courses for the event and gave many suggestions for helpful improvements. Fred Kruesi printed the maps, Ron Bortz made sure the e-punch equipment was delivered, and Hugh MacMullan set up the route gadget. Michelle Frank, Petr Hartman, Robert Henketh, and Vadim Masalkov stayed late to help with control pickup. Event Director Mary Frank provided a ton of useful guidance in many areas. They all put up with a lot of questions from me and were a big help! Finally, I would like to thank everybody who came out to Governor Dick and also thank you for your feedback about the courses. I look forward to checking out the routegadget!
