2nd Annual Frances Slocum O-?
-
Topic created by rgbortz on Thu Mar 14, 2013 at 9:34 amJudging by last year's response it may be fun to do another similar event at Frances Slocum State Park.
For those who didn't attend this event last August this is a two day ( camping or hotelling ) weekend on the Northeast side of Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Last year foot, bike, canoe and night-O were on the menue.
Some perliminary thoughts this year is a score-O, with several catagories, combining foot, bike and canoe.
Night-O stays, with perhaps twisting that in to the score-O.
Trail-O: if we can get a qualified setter.
Memory ( photo-O )
Sprint
Should a couple volunteers come forward to help out we could get this all in a weekend.
All viable ideas for just-for-fun courses will be considered
Possible dates are Aug 10&11 OR Aug 17&18
I would like to move ahead with this quickly so there is enough time to advertise the event nationally or at least to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast clubs.
Feedback is being solicited now. Respond here or send me an email with your ideas and preferred dates.
This is just a fun event. You can do as much or as little Oing as you like. But do try not to miss the party. -

Reply by chand on Fri Mar 15, 2013 at 4:32 pmI thought the foot-O (which I did as a relaxed one-person rogaine) was simply awesome.
The canoe-O is hard to get enough people together for the water battle-O I would want. :(
I got totally lost during the night-O, (which I always do). Looking forward to getting lost again. :)
What help do you need the most?

Reply by WindWalker on Fri Mar 15, 2013 at 8:03 pmThe first weekend option, doesn't work for Lisa and I, we will be in Algonquin on a canoe trip.
More than happy to attend again this year, I had a great time chasing controls, on my own schedule.
I woudn't mind helping out, but wouldn't want to comprimise the "collect them all" experience, so maybe post event clean up help?

Question for the DVOA here...
I own an outdoor volleyball setup from eons ago when I used to play grass doubles and triples. For any of the big events (Like the Hickory Run event or the proposed Slocum event) would it be welcomed for me to set up or loan the court to the organization? In other words, would people want to or actually play, or are things too busy at these events and people too tuckered out?
Would there be interest in seeing such a set up in events that i can actually make it to?
