This was inspired by Philly Hashers Green Dress Run (see FLICKR for hilarious pictures). We can't reach the same level of hilariousness without the usual alchoholic lubrication that Hashers enjoy, but we can try. And really, orienteers just don't have the same flair for accessories (see the guy who ran a street run in Philly with a green dress and red high heels).

Reply by LarryG on Thu Mar 14, 2013 at 9:49 pmI was hoping that was an error and it really meant to dress green. Even a sturdy kilt wouldn't be very tick resistant. Oh well, as long as I don't forget my wallet again, I can do the runnin' o' the Green. Was that planned or just coincidence that Hibernia was scheduled for March 17th? Hibernia is the Latin and poetic name for Ireland.

Reply by kathyu on Fri Mar 15, 2013 at 4:18 pmI'm all set with a green dress to go over my tights. If its typical Hibernia, it will be in shreds by the third control.

But after that I just let nature take its course.

Reply by anniemac on Sat Mar 16, 2013 at 7:32 amIs there any information about the courses we ought to know aside from their length? I see some references to getting shredded...can anyone tell me more about the terrain and what to expect?

Reply by edscott on Sat Mar 16, 2013 at 9:45 amThe Hibernia woods can be thick. The understory is mostly spicebush, but there are also briars and vines mixed in. There are some areas of stony ground and a few steep slopes. Most of the rock features tend to be small unless courses cross the creek. I don't remember the extent of the October 2011 storm damage at Hibernia, but that might also be a factor.

Reply by WindWalker on Sun Mar 17, 2013 at 10:34 pmHey Ron, I showed up with my green panties and they didn't give me the cash box, nor did they let me run red for free, and to make matters worse there weren't any snacks left...
I did get some strange looks from the lady with the horse at the one parking lot... can't even imagine what she was thinking as I ran by her...
