No one has volunteered to work on the Mt Penn event on our schedule for August.  Any last minute volunteers before I pull the plug?

I could possibly design course and vet locations. But, I wouldn't be able to prep maps, hang controls, or be there for the event itself.

So, that is not great help, but just in case it could help somebody else.

Because of our reduced summer schedule I hate to loose the Mt Penn event.  Can anyone do it if the date is changed to July 31 or Aug 14?

Ok I'm probably going out on a limb here as the very new guy to all this, but... I would be willing to help someone with this. Don't mistake that for I will do this with some help, it's more like I will help someone that may not have enough time to do this on thier own.

But understand that I have no experience with all this., and no knowledge of what needs to be done, and I live an hour away. But I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty and pitch in. Also keep in mind that Friday I'm leaving for a 10 day motorcycle trip.

That's all I can offer at this point to help keep this event on the schedule. Probably not much help, but just wanted to throw it out there.

As far as dates, the 31st would work fine for me. Or the 7th, but there was mention of a conflicting A-meet somewhere on the 7th???

While I still can't attend either of those days, I can still design courses and streamer location before the event.

I might be able to cover controls placement day before and day of event. So, we need just ED now.

All the real work is now covered and I personally want the oportunity to run at Mt. Penn. So if Mike is agreeable to my terms I will accept the title of Event Director. I will talk to Mike this weekend at the Keystone A-meet. Keep the event on the calander at least till Monday.

Afterthought:    the event would have to be on the 31st for me to be there.

2011 Individual Classic Championships are on July 30-31st. So, that weekend doesn't work for me because I plan to go to A-meet.

I can have courses ready for either of the dates, but we will need someone else to put out all the controls if Vadim (and I) can't be there for the event itself.

Note that all locations are to be vetted and streamered so someone should be able to do that.  I don't know my exact schedule those weekends might be able to help July 30th... less likely in August. I'd suggest especially on Mt Penn that all controls set along trails go out on Sunday morning.

As an afterthought on my end, the 31st would work better for me. The details are coming together for a WW paddle trip on the Lower Yough on the 7th. Don't want to miss that.

Lets talk at Keystone. But it sounds like the work that's left I could help with.

Sounds like tentative plan for now. Clem (and I if needed) can take care of designing courses and vetting/streamering all control locations.

OK.  We'll nail down the date this weekend at WPOC and Mary can get the permission started.

OK.. Are we good for the 31st with Clem's courses hung by Mike and Ron with Ron as ED?  Looks like I could also do some hanging if needed.

    I'm back...

So it looks like I'm hanging controls, should be able to handle that.

If possible I wouldn't mind tagging along when the controls are flaged, just to get a feel for what goes on.

Not sure what the time frame is, but I'm sure you guys will keep me informed.

Thanks for the heads up Ron, last I knew it was the 31st. That took me out of the mix.

    Enjoy, Mike

For those following this thread.. there are still some kinks to be ironed out regarding scheduling.  We found there is a major trail run on Mt Penn Aug 14 that we need to work around.  Keep watching the schedule page or this thread before making any concrete plans.  Latest version is SATURDAY Aug 13th.

We are confirmed for Saturday August 13th at Egleman's for the Mt Penn event. Turned out to be a very simple process once I found the right person.

The "Half Wit Half Marathon" is the race on the 14th; it's most excellent, I've done it many times and I'm sorry I'm missing it this year.    I'm sure it covers most if not all the dvoa maps on Mt. Penn.     http://pretzelcitysports.com
