The following is a request for a volunteer to help out at a camp for White Clay Creek:

Hi I work at White Clay Creek State park and we were going to do Orienteering with our Outdoor Adventure Sports summer camp. I was hoping you might have someone willing to volunteer a few hours to show some kids how to orienteer and set up a course for them. The camp has 12 kids ages 10 to 13 and is the week of July 25 to 29. Thanks for yuor consideration.

    Cathy Rash- Camp Coorinator

If interested, please contact Cathy at cathy.rash@state.de.us

    Sandy-

I might be able to do it as I live very close to WCC.  I would need about 20 or so controls and stands, pin punches, pink cards, a clock, and some maps.  A table would be nice, too.  Is there a standard kit for this type of small event (such as the ones the Franks run at Nolde)?  Does anyone know if we have any leftover WCC White and Yellow course maps from the event this year or in the past?  If so, I would just set them up again.  I borrowed an "educational" kit from Mark Frank last year that has one control, some flyers, whistles, and some Warwick maps for training.  My main concern is that I may have to do some juggling of my work schedule to make sure I have a free day that week.  I will contact Cathy Rash to get some preliminary information and to see if I can work it out a suitable date and time.

    Thanks Steve,
Hopefully we can get the needed supplies for you. I have Kit 1 for the Fort Washington event and if it's ok with the Kit coordinator, Tim, I can give it to you. It's not due to be used again until September.

As for maps, I'm hoping someone has some and can let you know. Ed or Mary might have extras.

White Clay extras are most likely to be at Mary's.  The majority of the blank copies are with Ralph Tolbert.

    Sandy and Ed-

I have spoken to Cathy Rash and arranged to run an orienteering course at WCC on the morning of Monday, July 25, 2011.   I may be able to set up the course the night before.   Cathy advised me there will be 12 campers ranging in age from 10-13.  I can probably get away with a single White course.  I will try to contact Mark Frank about some maps.  Please let me know about the kit for such event.  I plan to attend Nolde this weekend, and probably Fort Washington as well.

    Steve
