For those of you interested in getting a taste of adventure racing consider the Crooked Compass Adventure Trek, the first race in the Rootstock Racing 2017 season. This eight-hour foot and navigation events will take you through the woods and mountains of Pennsylvania's Buchanan State Forest. This year's course consists of a mandatory route that is approximately 12 miles long. To complete the entire course, racers should expect to travel up to 25 miles, perhaps more, depending on their route choice. The event is open to solos and teams from 2-4.
The 2017 Crooked Compass will feature on the most of unique features you've ever seen in a race. Paralleling the well-traveled PA Turnpike are the remnants of an old interstate. This year’s course not only crosses and travels along sections of this abandoned highway, but the mandatory route also brings racers through an abandoned four lane tunnel, stretching over a mile under the mountains of central PA. Check out this video, courtesy of Kyle Mills, for a bird's eye view of the tunnel.
Early registration ends Feb. 15 so sign up now to get the reduced rate.
