Next Sunday February 12th - Daniel Boone Homestead

Topic created by ErikEddy on Fri Feb 3, 2017 at 10:28 amThe schedule should be updated shortly...Come out for a fun low key event in a month typically void of orienteering. We have been lucky to have benign winter weather this year. The event is much different than a typical event! Boone was my first course setting venture back in 2002 so I'd figure I'd give it a try 15 years later.Registration 11-11:45AM, with a mass start at Noon (pre-race briefing at 11:45AM). The course will close at 2PM (2 hour time limit). Clean up should be relatively quick and I'd encourage a social gathering down at Island Pizza after.Format:We'll start with a little opening activity, and then some Daniel Boone themed challenges before getting on the score course. The course will have 20 controls spread out through most of the park and I think all skill levels will have fun. You can go in any order and go for as many as you like. Choose your routes wisely! Will be using pin-punch for a couple reasons, but actually I think that is better for score so you can keep track of which ones you already got (or more importantly which one you accidently skipped!).Helpers:Everyone will be out on the course 12-2 (though I suspect top runners will finish earlier) so help on before and afterwould be welcomed: registration, results (pin-punch), control pickup . For runners done early - record finish times/help with results. If you do not want to run and can help please email me at erikreddy@gmail.com.
