Bike-O on a New Map? Count me in
-
Topic created by ErikEddy on Mon Jun 16, 2014 at 3:30 pmThe last Sunday in June (6/29) will be a chance to enjoy a very unique event...
Lower Perkiomen Valley Park
Starts 9:45-11:00: Bike-O. Say what? Compete in teams of 3... (at least 2..."Family teams" can have more than 3) biking on a paved path picking up controls along the way. 3 controls will have one competitor get off their bike and find a few land controls (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced loops). Unique prizes and bragging rights to the top teams ("Family" or Open).
Mass Start at 12:30 (Register by 11:30): Sprint. Might be just as fun to watch as run. Participants will head off in different directions eventually hitting all the same legs in this super fast Sprint course.
Hungry? The fun continues!! Stick around for the summer picnic and membership meeting immediately following the Sprint.
Due to the uniqueness of the event (and food planning purposes) please send a note to me at vicepresident@dvoa.org if you plan to run one or both of the courses and/or attend the picnic. Any help with the courses or picnic is appreciated. Bring a covered dish!
Hope to see everyone there!!

Reply by ErikEddy on Fri Jun 20, 2014 at 11:58 amI am adding a "Masters" Division. Combined orienteering age >=165 years for 3 competitors. Also, for teams of 2 or more than 3 there is "Non-Competitive".
Also... follow this link to sign up your team for bike-o or see who still needs a team!!!(revised to have as link)http://goo.gl/Z4PGsS
Once you enter the link you can edit the document. You are encouraged to list your name and land loop preference as Sam did, especially if entering Masters division. Check out the competition!
Look for a Sprint sign up link soon. -

This will guarentee your map for the Sprint and Bike-O course, and help me gauge attendance for the picnic/meeting. If you can't make it, you can also let me know through the survey.

Reply by ErikEddy on Wed Jun 25, 2014 at 2:12 pmThanks all for helping out by pre-registering (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HPFJZRM ) and helping your club member's form teams (See teams here: http://goo.gl/Z4PGsS ) . I'll be using the results to estimate maps to be printed, and will help greatly with e-punch set-up.
Policelli's look to be the favorite for the family division, and Team ARRBies with master spin instructor Ali Bortz might be unstoppable in the Masters Division.
Who will challenge them..?!!
Team Members Wanted: Sam Kolins/Patrick Trongo are looking for a 3rd member as are Team Squeaky Brakes (who have been training hard for this event!!) in the Open division.
Sounds too intense? Three's a crowd?... you can also find that perfect partner and travel at your leisure on a 2 person NC team (like Rapid Descent & Urban_Blight).
Duathlon Detail Special:
~9.9 km
~6.6km actual miles on bike. ~ 40 meters of climb. All paved trail.
+Land Loop1: Easy, 5 controls, 0.94 KM straight line
+Land Loop2: Intermediate, 7 controls, 1.16 KM straight line
+Land Loop3: Advanced, 6 controls, 1.19 KM straight line -

Ralph Churchill plans to attend Sunday. I would like to help. Please tell me when you would like to have me arrive. My preferance would be to bring my own food.
Ralph
