Topic created by Gillettejw on Mon Apr 7, 2014 at 0:30 amWhat an Awesome day!!!!! And to quote the LEGO movie "Everything is awesome!!! Everything's cool when your part of a team." And what a team we had. To start off, some stats......Small park, gorgeous day, 159 maps, and about 200 participants. Spring is here!!!!!Let me start by thanking our Course setting and Event Directing crew, the Franks. Despite family hardship, Mary planned and set up a fantastic set of courses. Her mark of excellence is evident in the lack of grousing at the finish line and the smile on faces as participants took on a second course after they negotiated their first. Mary and Mark were up at the crack of dawn this morning and had the entire event set up before I arrived at 7:45. The term dedication seems to be lacking in describing their efforts. Thank you MAry and Mark for your dedication and please accept my heartfelt condolences in your loss.As the sun peaked over the hills, the Franks departed for parts West and the Cavalry arrived. Our skilled volunteers stepped up and took the reigns and executed the well tought out plan that the Franks had envisioned. On Registration, thanks to Diane, Angelica, and Erik for cooly registering numerous scout troops and a few surprises during the day. Thanks also to Erik for training some real neophytes and for cranking out a few Yellow maps before running his course. On E-Punch, Thanks to Sam and Vadim for keeping the endless stream of participants going. I have never run out of e-punches on an event, but Sam handled it in stride. Thanks also to Bob Agosta for handling archive and closeout. Thanks to our Start Crew, Bob Gross, Ali Bortz, and a gentleman whose name escapes me. As I looked down to the Start line there was organized chaos, but everyone got out and on the course without a grumble. And finally, thank you to our clean-up crew......Ed, Diane, Ron, and Sam. Ed set up a plan to collect controls that went smothly and got us clear of the park on time.Lastly, I would like to extend a Thank You to all of the others who I missed that lent a hand. Whether it was restocking e-punches, guiding guests to the right line, providing training, or just welcoming our first timers with a smile....you all made today a memorable experience.Today was a great day for the Club. Superb numbers, superb planning, and superb execution in the face of family harship for OUR family. Well done, DVOA....it truly is "Great being part of a Team."

Reply by ErikEddy on Mon Apr 7, 2014 at 10:12 amAnd thank you John. Special thanks to the Franks for their giving and letting us enjoy their courses in their time of need.
Had an enjoyable run on the Red course, and an equally enjoyable experience being a tour guide for the newbies. A group of 4 signed up through the park... enjoyed the white course so much, they decided to try orange (and survived). -

A huge thank you to everyone for a wonderful day at Warwick, but especially to the Franks who are the heart of DVOA. and thank you to John Gillette who did a wonderful job and thank you Sam for the great job at the epunch. I've been running yellows, but the brown yesterday helped me get some confidence back. It was a very nice course. thanks to all!

Reply by hughmac4 on Tue Apr 8, 2014 at 2:54 pmHi Everyone: sorry for the Routegadget delay, but I want to update the Warwick map with this posting, so am waiting on an OCAD file from the map master. Once I get that, I'll post the RG for Warwick.ALSO: I just updated the RG version again (thanks Jarkko!) as well, which turns 'dim map' on by default and spreads out and pumps up the animation colors (nice primaries) a for your viewing pleasure. MUCH better for watching a race! Check it out on Govornor Dick (I recommend the Blue race):

Reply by Hesketh on Thu Apr 10, 2014 at 11:49 amHugh,That was a nice example of a catchup on control 4 for Governor Dick on the Blue. I would not have thought that going around would have been faster than a more straight route. Also a nice race in the end between Sergiy and Vadim. It is amazing how Sergiy just follows the line between points!!!! (:-0)
