Quail Hill Scout invitational orienteering event is now posted (June 8th)

Topic created by BRycharski on Thu Feb 27, 2014 at 2:23 amHi All , please tell your Scouting Friends and leaders that the 13th annual Scout INVITATIONAL Orienteering event at Quail Hil, Manalapan, NJ . has been scheduled on the DVOA schedule and the Application for Scouts and troops/packs has been posted on Jeff Scotts www.scoutorienteering.com Local Nor East coast Scout event web pages
DVOA members do not need to use that form , (DVOA walk ons as usual) its to get the Leaders organized to attend. Only 250 max Scouts are given start times (show up times) , to allow for 100 ok so ... DVOA or USOF members to attend as local walk ons as usual.
New this year is a local Quail Hill 13 th annual ... trivia game and NEW Caroline Ringo FUN trivia O contest and Map o champs (yellowish controls, separate sp course than regular yellow and lots of fun to be seen, and Scout or youth group small prizes).
Note, Lasar tag private operator and parking lot bowser is no longer resident, we return to using the 100% of the Quail Hill Scout camp and Topo map (less the power lines)
Please help me spread the word, tell SCout leaders you know in your area this event will likley "sell out" start times early this yearby MAy (don't dally). Camping allowed with BSA office permits (limited tent sites, early units will get campsites but this year the Camp sites availability will go quickly)
Special 13 cent discount for troops with "13" on there patches and all 13 year old entrants also (June Month only please). Person with names with Exactly 13 letters (, like ( Clint Eastwood) add first and last name letters must equal 13 exactly) also get early start preference slots for there units/teams Get these Scouts the news of this Very Special June O Event Be Good Bob R

9 Newbie Scouts need Compass and Map - training, so you can Attend a bit early, Brush off your Training lessons, and help inspire the next generation of NJ local O runners. See the Schedule Volunteer "Want Ads" list later in May, and you will still have time to run your own course and New this year, Plenty of car and SUV PArking (no laser tag business, they were asked to leave the camp o permamently)
8 I quarantee Fine Running weather On June 8th - If you have not heard, I have a 99% good weather ED magnet, in 25 years, No rain (except a mild Mist at Jocky Hollow Lewis map in '99), my events (I organize) are almost always high and Dry and get good sunny weather {and sorry West Point OC, dates I vacate non-voluntarily get Snow,SLEET or Monsoon rains (THis event was moved in Jan when Sandy from DVOA reminded me that West Point OC A -Meet was moving onto the April 12/13th weekend)
7 DVOA and USOF club runners do not need to pre-register, Just Show Up [ walk ons acceptable {but tell your Troop and Scout buddies for me to help get them organized and or interested} No Scout walk-ons]
6 The event will Debut the ... new Yellow Course "Caroline Ringo" MEMORIAL O contest and - 13 base ten based QUIZ BOWL - want-a-be game. See the many Youths/teams vie for a special prize on a ... 13 control SPRINT O course, and THOSE WITH THE most right with run time tie-breakers - decide. (Whom starred in the classic "Friday the 13th movie" film?) Multiple choice except for 1 or 2 math problems (bring a pencil stub)
5 June Running will be Much More challenging in the Forest, come see how you stack up against the Mark Frank's and Angelica Riley's in the fully bloomed forest.
4 If your local troop tent camps at Quail Hill, maybe you can join the Troop and share a camping spot, making it a Longer O weekend. You can at least offer to help logistically by transporting the Scout tents back in your Cars back seat.
3 LOCAL Ranger Adam sez he will be Busy in chain sawing down, removal and burning up! all the easily accessable trailside QH Rootstocks to increase runner course route choice
2 We will be awarding a special June 8th :"Prize" called - "The Sister/or Son Of "MUDDY ANNIE" Award !" ... The DVOA Runner with the most Post Start MUD on His, or Hers O Suit on a green or higher course Wins a Bottle of GOOP cleaner and a case of Snapple (half and Half tea and 1/2 lemonade of course, splattered with Quail Hill Mud, mosquito/bug bits and Toad mini cookies) - Non DVOA members can vie for the Mini-me equivalent of Anne's Photo Op - Non washed O suits will be photographed at the = Start to avoid cheating by bringing a Totally Pre- muddied O suit ... Judges are Kathy Urban, Spiny Norman the Hedgehog, VP Biden (needs someing neW to do and QH is near the NJ Transit Railroad tracks) and The 'Sandman' (Mo Rivara of the Yankees)
