White Clay Creek State Park, Newark DE
Foot and Bike 6 Hour Adventure Race
Honoring the memory of Donna Mummert.
Donna passed away in January 2014. She was a young spririted woman, who always had a spark of adventure in her eyes. She will be missed by many.Come out to our inaugural winter race and get a leg up on training for the 2014 adventure racing season! What better way to thaw yourself of the winter freeze and melt off those extra holiday pounds.
White Clay Creek State Park is new territory for an adventure race and is renowned for its excellent hiking and mountain bike trails, not to mention its important geographical history. You will be part of the first adventure race to traverse grounds once occupied by Lenape Indians and surveyed by Mason and Dixon almost 250 years ago.
The up to 6-hour race will be a modified Rogaine format with teams and solos travelling entirely on foot and bike. However, if we are lucky enough to have snow cover, you can travel by any means you choose. You can snowshoe, ski, bike or even posthole your way from point to point. If there is snow, your method of travel (or madness!) will be your option!
They are a Non Profit organization who organizes a few Adventure Races each year....

Reply by bobburg on Fri Feb 21, 2014 at 10:53 amOn the other hand, Batsto has never gotten much snow and situated on sandy soil, should be ideal for a run through the pinelands in mid-40's this Sunday. We lucked out on scheduling a Feb 23 event. So everyone, shrug off your cabin fever, and come see actual ground beneath your feet!!!
