Topic created by Tom-O on Tue Feb 18, 2014 at 12:47 pmAs of today, I have received no expressions of interest in the Course Setting Clinic that was scheduled for Saturday March 8 at the Myrick Center. I spoke to the Myrick Center and apparently one of the winter storms knocked out power to the barn (which houses the conference room we were planning to use). They were not sure if power will be restored by 3/8.
So at this point, I am inclined to cancel the training and reschedule for later this year or wait until next year. If you are still interested in a March session, email me and I will see if we can arrange it. If I don't hear anything by Sunday February 23, the clinic will be canceled. Below is the info that I originally posted for the training:

Once again this year, we will be offering a Course Setting Clinic for anyone interested in learning more about setting courses. The clinic will be held Saturday March 8th from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Myrick Center (Brandywine Valley Association). Providing instruction will be Clem McGrath, Vadim Masalkov and Tom Overbaugh.
The clinic consists of four modules:
- Course Design
- Condes Software Overview
- The Course Setting Process
- Discipline Specific Info (Sprint / Middle / Long)
If you would like to attend, please send an email to Tom Overbaugh (toverbaugh at comcast dot net) for additional information. It is recommended that participants bring a laptop with the Condes course design software pre-loaded.
Course setting is a great way to give back to the sport and will help improve your orienteering skills. Our goal is to develop an expanded pool of qualified course setters for the club.

Reply by j-man on Tue Feb 18, 2014 at 3:28 pmI'm still looking forward to the course setting clinic, and will be eager to be an instructor if we do it.I know a number of people told me they were interested in attending. Sometimes people do take a while to reply, but it is reasonable to require a reply by an appropriate deadline. So, if you haven't signed up, please let Tom know!

Reply by Tom-O on Tue Feb 18, 2014 at 5:01 pmAnother update - Myrick called me back to let me know that power has been restored to the barn so that is no longer an issue.
But we do need a head count by Sunday February 23rd to determine if the clinic will go on as scheduled. -

Reply by Hesketh on Mon Feb 24, 2014 at 12:30 pmHello Tom,I will send you an email about attending this course. I set some courses for an A meet a long time ago in Southern Illinois, but I don't know how to use the software and I am sure a lot of things have changed with the electronic punching.Robert Hesketh

Reply by Tom-O on Mon Feb 24, 2014 at 6:29 pmOkay - it looks like enough people have expressed interest so we will go ahead with the Course Setting Clinic on Saturday March 8th as planned.
I will try to send detailed info to all interested parties over the next few days. In the meantime, if you have questions please let me know.
And we still have room for more participants if anyone else is interested!
