Can anyone help us understand how to select the courses we want to run at NAOC. We have found the web site and registration confusing. We see no mention of course colors, lenghts, climb... only finish time (whisch will not be anywhere near our time so is not help). Were not sure if we want to run at our age level or not (spicifically the long course)
Or, can we just pick a course number and fix it later?
PS the web site has lots of info but the detail stuff seems to be greek to us as relative rookies.
    Thanks for any help.

Canada uses a different system than the US, one that is a bit more similar to European events.

Instead of using colors, they simply number their courses.  The easiest course is course 1, and then they go from there.  For the Middle and Long, the courses go up to 10 and so it looks like course 4 to course 10 are advanced navigational level courses of progressively longer lengths.  You can get a sense of what the equivalent US course would be by considering the age groups that run that course.

So, course 1 is white, course 2 is yellow, 3 looks to be an Orange course, courses 4 and 5 are roughly Brown, 6 and 7 approximately Green, etc.

If you want to run a course that is different (shorter or easier) than the course your age group is assigned to, you just register for the open class on that course.

Course lengths and climb will be posted much closer to the event.

Some Canadian (and US) events charge fees if you want to make changes - not sure if they are.

    Hope that helps.

Yes, that's a big help. Just when you think you've got this sport figured out, there is a new twist. :)
This will be out first international event... looks to be fun.
    Thanks Sandy.
