    Hi all,

As some of you may know the 2014 North American Orienteering Championships
are being hosted in the Ottawa Valley in Ontario, Canada this year from
October 10th to 13th.  The 2012 North American Champs raised the bar for
orienteering in North America and we from Orienteering Ottawa and the host
town of Arnprior are working to build upon that success.  We are confident
the result will be an event you don't want to miss.  Here's why:
Opening and closing ceremonies.  Our fun nod to the fact that this is a
    legitimate sporting event.
A true spectator sport.  With bleachers, spectators guides, and live
play-by-play announcers who needs to race to enjoy orienteering?
Urban sprinting.  In a North American first Arnprior is closing streets in
its downtown business district for the sprint.
Amazing 'arenas'.  The NAOC2014 arenas will include a food and vendor
market, fun and games for kids, entertainment and more...
Elite sprint relay.  A fun chance to cheer on your country for the Bjorn
Kjellstrom and Future Champions cups.  We want you cheering in this highly
    visible race.
People’s Cup. Feel left out of the elite relay? - the final race of
NAOC2014 will be a forked, mass start, club competition for everyone.
    Don't let your club down!
Check out NAOC2014.ca for all the juicy details.

We have also been working with the Rochester Orienteering Club, organizers
of the 2014 US Nationals on Oct 3rd to 5th, to make October - North
American Orienteering month and extend the celebration to 11 days.
Following the US Nationals we are providing training opportunities in
Ottawa from the 6th to the 10th before the NAOC2014 Opening Ceremonies on
the evening of the 10th.  Alternatively, if training just isn't your thing
you can join us for our tour of Southern Ontario.  The tour includes
transportation to the US Nationals, orienteering during the week and scenic
visits to several of Ontario's best sites.  The full schedule and
registration information is available at naoc2014.ca/index.php/tour.

But enough about the fun stuff.  Here are the details you actually need to
    know to Take Control.

Prices are increasing on February 14th.
Until then an adult can register for the three championship events for the
low price of $76 CDN.  Juniors are even cheaper at $38.

No need to rent a car!
The weekend will be super accessible with a shuttle bus from the Ottawa
International Airport to the event centre in Arnprior.  Toss in that there
are several accommodation options within easy walking distance from the
event centre and free shuttle buses to the model events and races and there
is no need to rent a car.

A meal plan and cheap accommodation.
With a well priced and flexible meal plan including breakfasts and dinners
and a sleeping plan at $5 per person per night for hard floor
dormitory-style accommodation or camping at the event centre NAOC2014 is
    incredibly affordable.

It’s time to Take Control and sign up the entire family and bring friends
along.  It is very important to us that NAOC2014 is as inclusive as
possible so there are courses for all ages and abilities - even newcomers.
