Countdown to Pocono Dash and Splash

Topic created by rgbortz on Mon Jul 29, 2013 at 9:12 amLess the two weeks to what may be your most enjoyable orienteering of the summer.
If you haven't registered yet but are contemplating coming go ahead and sign up, decide later.
Registration just gaurantees you a preprinted map. There will be plentiful maps, you just might have to draw in all the circles if you are not preregistered.
Only one day, or a part day, is possible ? Terrific, drop in and have a little fun; maybe paddle-o. There will be canoes to share, just asking a small fee to help with permits to launch watercraft on state waters.
Maybe come just for night-o. Expected start time: 8:30pm Saturday night.
Good Times in Good Company
Even if you don't sign up I'm still hoping to see you there. ( no penalties )

ps: some have signed up just by way of conversation/email with -
Reply by rgbortz on Thu Aug 1, 2013 at 9:10 amThe cutoff for online preregistration is Wednesday Aug 7 at 9:00 pm. I will be at Frances Slocum Thur Aug 8.
If you need to contact me to preregister or for any other reason call my cell 610-334-3523.
If you are doing night-o don't forget a flashlight / headlamp.
Watercraft require registration with PA FISH and BOAT or you must purchase a launch permit at the park. This will be included with watercraft loaned from club members.
Score-O points: Foot/Bike.............6,975 with 500 bonus for getting to farthest reaches of 90 controls

I will be heading up only for Saturday's daylight activities. So, if anybody wants to team up for foot/paddle (my MTB is in the repair zone), please shoot me a note using this board's feature. I live in the Allentown, PA area and am interested and willing to carpool up a few exits on the NE Extension to Wilkes Barre.
Thanks,

Reply by furlong47 on Thu Aug 1, 2013 at 9:56 pmI'm so disappointed that this overlaps my vacation
(Not that I won't be having fun on vacation, but I would like it if I could do both!) Have fun everybody!

Reply by rgbortz on Sat Aug 3, 2013 at 8:47 amFYI
There will be water at the event headquarters but not on the course so bring your own hydration.
You can stop in the campgrounds or other restrooms throughout the day use areas to fill up.
In keeping with the effort to keep costs down there will be no snacks supplied by the club so I request those that are so inclined to maybe bring one snack to add to the table at headquarters.
A reminder to those signed up and those contemplating:
This whole weekend is designed both for the hardcore orienteer/adventure race types and those who just want a completely layed back day or weekend. It's your call.
This post is also a call for a few control pickup helpers Sunday late afternoon/evening.
With 5 or 6 of us I will be able to leave Sunday night also instead of staying over to recover controls on Monday.
Send me an email or post here.
Thanks for all your support.
