Come Run/Walk/Saunter at Washington Crossing (and then please help out)

Topic created by bobburg on Tue Jun 11, 2013 at 11:33 amFor whatever long range forecasts count for, right now weather seems beautiful for this Sunday at Washington Crossing. The summer woods is a bit greener than mapped, and so will make route choice and alert eyes primary. And you can veiw all the transformations Mother Nature has brought to the park -- the most dramatic example is right at Registration/Start/Finish.
We could certainly use more help, especially at the start of the day, and then some fill-in on the e-system later in the day. And remember, we will be using portions of the map that have been revised, so you won't always recognize terrain from memory.
Come enjoy the woods before DVOA's schedule lightens up for the summer. And please lend the organizers a hand in whatever small (or large) ways you can offer. See you among the rootstocks.

Reply by bobburg on Fri Jun 14, 2013 at 9:41 pmOh!! And did I mention that it would be great to spend Father's Day at the park honoring the Father of Our Country??????? at any pace you wish. (It's not required that you cross the Delaware River in a boat.)
Hope to see you all....... -

The park is in its Summer greenery, and Orange through Red will have choices that take you through it. While courses avoid dark green and heavy brambles, you may find that you have to wend your way through mixed vegetation. If you pay attention on the more technical legs, you can find fairly clean ways through it.
But for Orange, Brown, Green, and Red I definitely encourage you NOT to wear shorts. I also assure you that you will be able to minimize tangling with small patches of brambles. Come enjoy the frequent open woods, and the challenge of choosing the smartest routes on the more technical legs.
And as I savored setting controls today, I'm reminded that a day in the woods is better than most anything else I can think of.....
See you all at Washington Crossing!!
