Topic created by BRycharski on Thu Apr 25, 2013 at 11:47 amHello DVOA members, this is a pedition to have a NEW person step up and volunteer for Course designer and Setter (CS) at Rutgers preserve Park, Livingston campus, Highland park NJ Sunday, Sept 29th. Rutgers Full Dean Rick L and I invite you to challenge yourself.
Now you don't 'want' to course set, its way too hard and scarey? You might say; But get this, I will double my offer ... and you not only get my aid and course setter at Rutgers preserve help, I will join you for a grand Course setter kick off tour of this Rutgers Park and show you the ins and outs of the park and forest (Time limited offer, order NOW!) .
And you not only gain the gratitude of Scouts, youth outdoor groups and John Q Public and Rutgers Outdoors club members alike, you get, not double, not triple , but 4 times the gratitude from NJ (and PA) Map and Compass hikers and DVOA runners for your Volunteer CS activity. Thats better than getting 3 Slap Chop's for the price of 'one'.
And now some wil say there are too many- blocked Trails and branch littered areas in Rutgers park, you would be "mis-informed". Rutger's Maintenance men (graduates of Trash U) has realigned all dead trees and removed smaller new rootstocks to Quail Hill camp, they did not want to waste them, although a few have been made in to Coffee tables using chain saws... time for a new red Rutgers "sale item", get your Big R @tm Rutgers parent limited coffee table, available in Tea time service style also just ask! Hey, if they can pay millions to ex B Ball coaches, what's a few trucks of tree limbs and logs. See a picture show of the Rutgers forest at http://www.mappler.info/geo005info/online-tour/station-13/ (single still)
or at http://www.mappler.info/geo005info/blog/the-trails-are-cleared/
or at http://www.mappler.info/geo005info/ ... for general forest RU preserve news
Again, forest is in good shape, 100% of trails are cleared, but I will have to add just a few dozen new rootstocks to the map (Hint, they only cleared the trails and nearby snags). So if you like , contact me and I can act as yourDVOA CS Tour guide + assistant if you like some advice (or step back if you are experienced). Bob Rycharski / Rutgers Sept DVOA Event Director
PS, Act today and get as a Bonus ... a Rare Pepsi first issue Aluminum can (empty of course), I jest not!, I found one in the Rutgers woods. Since when is a soda product company touting its" All NEW aluminum can" feature. Must be from the 60's ... Chow
