Embargo

Topic created by wilburdeb on Mon Mar 4, 2013 at 8:04 amHi,
What portions of French Creek are embargoed? Is there a national list of embargoed terrain? -
Reply by Sandy on Mon Mar 4, 2013 at 9:34 amI am unaware of a national list of embargoed areas but I think that is a good idea. You should suggest it to someone on the OUSA board. Perhaps it is something the sanctioning committee could maintain since they know which areas have sanctioned events.
As for our event, the courses will be contained in the terain on the old French Creek North map so if you stay out of that area you're good. The whole Hay Creek map is also embargoed. -
Reply by wilburdeb on Mon Mar 4, 2013 at 9:39 amThanks Sandy. French Creek North was the area I suspected as embargoed. Zac ran on French Creek East Saturday.

Reply by furlong47 on Mon Mar 4, 2013 at 10:50 pmMike - before an A-meet there is typically an embargo on the areas that will be used for the meet. They can be from a couple months to a year before the event. That means if you intend to compete in the A-meet, you can't enter the terrain designated as embargoed during that time period. So we all need to stay out of French Creek North and Hay Creek until the event this fall (unless you don't want to compete or plan to enter non-competitive and not earn awards or rankings, etc.) This is for some measure of fairness - so people can't go train there every day or just walk around and become familiar with the terrain, etc.

Reply by WindWalker on Tue Mar 5, 2013 at 9:16 pmI think Mark Frank was telling me the area around the old quarry at Hay Creek was mapped. Is that part of the event? So if I go climbing at the quarry I shouldn't compete?

You will technically be "on the map" but not where any courses will be going. Not much different than driving on 345 before a FCE meet.
