-
Topic created by Tom-O on Wed Feb 20, 2013 at 10:28 pmWe have 5-6 people signed up for the 3/2 Course Setting Clinic so far. There are still plenty of slots available. If you would like to attend, please send me an email. There is no charge for the training. Have you ever thought you might be interested in setting courses? This is a great way to start. After the training, if you would like to set courses for a local event, we can pair you up with an experienced course setter to help guide you along. Information on the clinic is below.

Once again this spring, we are planning on offering a Course Setting Clinic for anyone interested. Details follow:
Date: Saturday, March 2nd
Location: Myrick Center (Brandywine Valley Association)
Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 noon
Instructors: Clem McGrath, Vadim Masalkov, Tom Overbaugh
The clinic consists of 3 modules: Course Design, Condes Course Setting Software Overview, and the Course Setting Process. It is intended for beginner course setters as well as anyone else who would like to improve their course setting skills. Last year's training was well received with ~10 individuals in attendance. We are hoping for a similar interest level this year. We really need to build a larger pool of qualified course setters to maintain and improve the quality of DVOA events. Learning how to set courses can also improve your orienteering skills - you will start thinking like a course setter when you are navigating a course.
If you are interested in attending, please reply to this posting or contact Tom Overbaugh at toverbaugh at comcast dot net. Participants are asked to bring laptops if possible. Some software (Condes) will need to be downloaded onto your computer prior to the training.
