This note is for DVOA members that are also bringing any Scouts to the Nov. 11 Quail Hill fall O event. The Scout teams need to register to get an "Invitation" to make sure the QH event is not overbooked. DVOA members Do not need to register (except to volunteer to help), show up to help and O run as usual. Please tell your Scouts planning to attend Quail Hill to turn in QH camp visit requests early...
The Garden State Scout O Fall #19 event is scheduled for Sunday, Nov 11, 2012. Location will be at Quail Hill BSA Camp, Manalapan, NJ. This is an Advance Registration and "Invitational" event, see info/forms posted in October at www.scoutorienteering.com (DVOA and HVO members are exempt from needing to register...). Beginner "map reading" training is available by DVOA members. Scout Units interested in On-Site Quail Hill BSA - tent camping are asked to Call the Monmouth Council BSA office at (732) 536-2347, for campsite reservations while they last. This event is limited to the first 150 Scouts to register, please contact the event director early to avoid disappointment! We are parking lot and map supply limited (first 150 Scouts get DVOA maps, then they may run out, I have ~50 signed up for a start...)), and I limit the # of Scout entrants to avoid over crowding the NJ popular hiking courses and medium sized parking area. And it is estimated we may likely "run out" of QH starts/slots in mid Oct. .The #19 DVOA event director will again be Bob Rycharski <rrycharski345 at optonline dot net >. Please direct inquiries to him. The Quail Hill map is a revised 1:5000 scale, 3 meter contour and color OCAD map, 2002 base map, field re-checked by DVOA in late 2008. Deadline to register NLT 3 Nov.
Fees are as listed in DVOA FAQ. There is an additional $1 per person Camp entry fee above the DVOA map hike activity fee. No Dogs, please. Email the event director for the registration Forms PRIOR to 30 Oct.
Any unit/persons providing car green, "shrinking" technology at QH camp will receive a hearty DVOA discount... at this event. -

PLease ... all DVOA members with contacts and friends with girl or Boy Scout groups/troops, promote this event to your Local Troops, dens and packs.

Simple, email your local towns Scout unit leader that new Scout events that promote orienteering fun hikes can be found at Jeff Scotts website, with an address of www.scoutorienteering.com
Then scroll down and see the events listed by date and with contact info for further info.
