Topic created by Steve on Mon Aug 20, 2012 at 11:22 amOkay, I admit that I am getting spoiled, but RG does not seem to be up to snuff this time.
When I loaded my GPS it was not georeferenced. When I moved it with the blue dots I noticed that the green start was listed where the WYRBl starts were. Also there are no numbers on the circles, which makes it hard to follow on the campus since the legs are so short.

I'm glad to hear that folks are getting spoiled by the general behavior of RG, and Steve is correct that this one isn't up to par. Let's consider this event another learning experience for me as there are multiple things going on here.
One, I didn't realize until Steve's comment made me do some more checking that RG can't handle multiple start locations (or finish locations probably). Now I know that we'll need a different RG setup to handle different start locations. Unfortunately, the brown and orange courses will also display the wrong start location.
Two, the reason the control numbers don't show is because of the way I needed to handle the Blue course. Since Blue were allowed to skip one of the controls in the college sprint section, I setup the entire event in RG as a score-o event, which then doesn't show the control numbers.
Three, for some reason I wasn't prompted by the RG manager routine to add the geo-reference feature. Foolishly I had convinced myself that I had already geo-referenced Tyler before, which I obviously hadn't. I'm not really sure why RG didn't prompt me (maybe due to the score-o format but that doesn't really make sense).
Ultimately what was needed for the best RG user experience with this event would have been the following: a RG file for white, yellow, red; a second RG file for orange, brown, green; and a third RG file for blue. Given that a number of folks have already entered their courses, I'm not going to re-do things at this point in time.
Thanks for your understanding as I continue to learn more of the nuances of the program.

Doug, I do appreciate all the work you put into getting this information up for each event time after time.
ALSO - I just tried to load my route but the courses would not even show up so the route coud be adjusted (for GPS) or entered. Am I missing something? -

I think the score-o fromat in RG skips the geo-reference step, I seem to remeber missing the prompt one time and I think it was a score-o event. The one start might be a product of the score-o fromat selection. Score-o should only be used for a single course in RG or under strict parameters.
Here is an event I did recently with two starts http://www.vmeyer.net/gadget/cgi-bin/reitti.cgi?act=map&id=130&kieli=en
You can also geo-reference after in the RG manager about 2/3 the way down and see what maps are referenced but I would guess you know that.
For anyone wondering, as long as you have things organized the whole process for getting an event on RG takes about 5-10min.
