Thanks to the Ahlswedes and all your team of volunteers - this event was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the switch to the sprint type legs 2/3 of the way around the course, it was good to have to change one's orienteering technique. Great job!

Thanks to Karl and all the Ahlswedes, and everyone else for helping out...you made this a very well-organized, well-communicated event! (And how fast were those results up, too!)  Without your encouragement I probably wouldn't have even tried doing the Green, but I did and ended up having a lot of fun.  Though I haven't been doing this long, I could tell that a lot of thought was put into every little aspect of the day, and the result was a smoothly run, efficient event with a good turnout.  Great job!  Nice pics Julie K.

Karl ....thanks for putting on a great event...nice touch throwing in that urban sprint at the end.

Never had a chance to do one of those but got a small taste of it at the Raid the Sanctuary up here with the HVO  on the Barbarian course at Westmoreland Sanctuary. ( was thrown in in the middle of the race).

Hey did anyone else get poision ivy, oak, or sumanc?????

Breaking out in a few places on my legs ....I guess that's what I get for running in shorts.

Quite a few GOALS adventure racing types showed up as well to get in a workout and hone their O-skills....lets see some of the DVOA'ers who can mountain bike cross over to the adventure races .......The Edge at Washington Crossing on Oct 21st.  a 3 hr beginners race and 6hr advanced race.

While I'm all for adventure racing - I've done several and always had a blast - I really hope DVOAers will be up at the Water Gap on October 21st running in the North American Orienteering Championships and helping out if possible.

oooh, oooh, I can mountain bike a little bit. Cool

I wish there were more affordable camping/meal plan options for the NAOC. I know there isn't anything left, but when Lisa and I started adding it all up it was quite expense. We were planning on attending and helping out, but decided not too due to the cost. Remember one of the beauties of orienteering is the low cost of enjoyment. If the money would have went back to DVOA we wouldn't have had a problem with it, but it seems like it all goes to PEEC. It's really not a bad value, but for us it was hard to justify. So hopefully we'll get up for a day trip. It would have been cool if there was onsite camping, or atleast a place we could have parked our trailer for the weekend.

There is camping at Dingman's Campground in the Delaware Water Gap.  And it's the site of the remote parking for the weekend so you'll be right where you need to be to take shuttle buses to all the events.

Thanks Sandy, we were thinking about camping there, but it just didn't seem like a good option, account of not having a vehicle onsite with extra gear, food, water and stuff. We haven't ruled it out yet and are still discussing.

At least Mark's plug came on a post of a completely different subject.

Sorry for going off topic with this.

Sorry guys and gals.....I'm doing the Friday middle distance race and forgot that the goals washington crossing race was same weekend. (I also have an advent race on Sat, besides WX on sun)

I only mentin these things because there is a symbiotic relationship between the sports as evidenced by at least 6 adventure racers ( a few pretty good ones) showing up at Tyler last week end.

Since Washington crossing is one of your events as well I just thought that a few dvoa'ers would already know the terrain and give it a try..... didn't mean to influence volunteers.

    I really am sorry.Embarassed

but ....while I'm in hot water already .....HVO'S Hudson Highlander scheduled for 10-7Winkand as we already know that race is not for everyone.
