The Night-O is on. For those wanting to do the night-O Saturday night the park gates will remain open to the day use area where the headquarters will be located. So if you plan to come to this event but are not staying in the park campground it will be possible to park near the headquarters for the duration of your stay on Saturday.
Start time is expected to be 8:30 p.m. or sooner if conditions allow. All participants must be off the course by 10:00 p.m.
Night-O will be available both Friday and Sunday nights also. However, the gates to the day use area will be closed at sunset. There will be parking available for you outside of the day use area but you will have to walk about 3/4 mile to the event headquarters. If you are doing night-O on either of these nights and are not already in the park doing other Os you need to drive in to the event headquarters by 7:30 p.m. and you will be directed to the parking outside the day use gates.
Sunday night-Oers must sign up by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday or send me an email or state your intentions here by Aug. 7th.
There are 23 night-O control locations. You can pick and chose some or all. A few are more than white level difficulty ( anyway for night ).

There will be 144 total controls on all courses; foot, bike, canoe and night. They are all white, yellow and orange level difficulty. Only 2 are more than 50 meters from a handrail. This park is feature dense so it's really tough to get the "lost" feeling. This whole event may have more of a treasure hunt feel to it than a normal orienteering event, especially to the veterans, but I believe it will be a real challenge to get them all in one day.

The Headquarters is 1 1/2 miles by road from the campground. There is plenty of parking by the headquarters, but you will have to have you vehicle out of the day use area by sunset on Friday and Sunday nights.

Yes, Raustefano is coming all the way from Italy for this event, so  the word is out, this is going to be a great time just having fun.

A little info on the canoe-O:
First timers, white and yellow level orienteers will be given maps with control locations premarked. They will just have to record the control identification on their maps, Get as many as you wish.
Experienced canoers, orange level and up will be given blank maps. You will find the controls ( most are visible just by being on the lake), draw  the exact location with identification on your map. Compare your positioning of the controls with the master map when you are done. Will you get all 42 ? Will you place them correctly ?

PA State Park rules for watercraft:

Life jackets must be worn by all children 12 years old and younger on all boats 20 feet or less in length while under way, and on all canoes and kayaks. Others are strongly encouraged to wear a PFD at all times on the water.
Unpowered boats (canoes, kayaks, rowboats) using Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission or State Park or Forest access areas must either be registered OR display a valid launch permit.

For those so inclined, or in need of further incentive to come to this event: Sprint courses are easily set up due to the high volume of controls in all the different terrestial venues of this park, including a sprint canoe-O !!!
