Volunteer signup for Springton

Topic created by FredR on Mon Jun 25, 2012 at 12:43 pmAs every other Event Director pleads, it would be really nice to have volunteers signed up well before the event. Please sign up as soon as you think you'll be available and willing to help out. There are a few wrinkles for Springton:
- I've broken down the Epunch shifts into smaller bites for a few reasons: anyone that's sat at the computer on a busy day knows its exhausting and it would be nice to spread the load; plus this would be chance for some new people to sit in for a while and learn from experience
- There is a new "Training Coodinator" job listed. I envision this as someone who can help match "resources" (club members volunteering to instruct or shadow, training maps, etc.) to "customers" based on needs and interests. This person may only be needed if we get lots of newcomers, but I'd rather plan for success. The only qualification is probably a good familiarity with club members names and general orienteering skills.
- In conjunction with the Training Coordinator, I'm planning on setting aside a special area for club members to hang out when available to provide assistance. Obviously, this will all be very self-organizing depending on the flows of volunteers and people looking for help.
- In the spirit of combining learning with volunteering, I'm hoping everyone will strive to do some of both. This will be a great opportunity to jump in and learn-by-doing things like epunch, registration, control pickup, and so on.
