DVOA is planning to return to the Jukola relay in June, 2012.

Jukola is the largest participant orienteering relay in the world, and is quite a spectacle. There are over 1,000 men's teams of seven runners (Jukola), and several hundred women's teams with four runners (Venla). It is always held in Finland in June, and features overnight orienteering for the mens' teams (although at that time of year, it isn't dark long.)

Five years ago, for DVOA's 40th anniversary, we fielded one Jukola team and one Venla team. I think everyone who went agreed it was a fantastic experience.

We finished in the middle of the pack, but had a great time.

Next year, we are hoping to do even better. We want to take more than two teams, and with luck, achieve a better placing.
