there will be a 12 adventure race in the north jersey highlands 8-27-11 organized by the NYARA.

I saw a few of the DVOA'ers at a recent 12hr adventure race in PA  around Hawk Mountain last month.

If anyone has mountain biking skills and can row an open kyack it's a great chance to use your orienteeting skills to test  hardier folks' endurance and time management / orienteering skills.

1-25,000 maps used with contours and trails just no control descriptions, vegetation details, or symbols that most of you are used to.

I've read that Wind Walker has a bit of biking backround and is a trail runner.

ck the link out below and come on out.

    Disciplines are
    orienteering
    mountian biking
    kyacking
    trekking

Most courses are set up so skilled person/teams can do the minium and finish.... with optional cp's for advanced and more competetive folks.

I'm not saying it's for everyone and is a bit more dangerous then Orienteering, but if you can trail run, mountain bike, and read a map and compass....then come join the fun.

Yes I've biked a few miles.

Adventure racing is what brought me to orienteering. Funny thing is I've only ever done one and that wasn't even a real one. But the orienteering stuck!

I was just out in Ohiopyle last weekend paddling the Lower Yough and there was a big one going on there, 24hr/100mile. I was happy just tearing up the white stuff.

As life has a way of twisting and turning, I've gotten back into the adrenaline side of paddling and have become obsessed with the white water.

The canoe O should be fun.

    Life is great!

The only white water at French Creek is at the dam, and that is definitaly out of bounds
