First of all, thank you very much to everyone who showed up to run the sprints! All your happy faces absolutely made my day!
Huge thanks to Kathy Urban for effortlessly handling permissions and all the communication with the college!
Dave Morgan and Celeste Latorre showed up an hour before the event and helped with setup. It was Celeste's first time running with DVOA, and she showed up ready to help! Dave then handled the entirety of the first/biggest wave of check-ins and beginner instruction, letting me focus on the computer. I absolutely would have drowned if it wasn't for Dave!
When Dave left to run his courses, Ed Dunlop took over at check-in, map distribution, and beginner instruction. Once again, I absolutely couldn't have handled this job if it wasn't for Ed!
Control pickup was Julie Keim, Dave Morgan (yes, Dave stayed from the very beginning till the very end!!), Vadim Masalkov, and Mark Masalkov. They got stuck with about 15 controls each -- thank you guys, you are absolutely the best! I especially want to single out Mark -- he was as responsible and reliable as our best adult volunteers, which is totally amazing to see.
And finally big thanks to Sam Kolins for updating the map (and making this awesome sprint map in the first place!!), and also for course feedback, and for handling event pre-registration and map printing. Sam also designed and ran a special navigation exercise for the tiniest orienteers!
Hope to see everyone at Tamanend on August 8th!
