While designing and setting the courses was a very enjoyable project, once again that awful computer attacked an old man with limited IT skills.
For whatever reason, OUSA decided to upgrade the Event Reg page. Asking me to use it was their first mistake. Almost every page resulted in an "opps" screen or a "not available now" screen. Once we worked through the set up bugs we went live, where people were loaded into the wrong courses and charged the wrong amounts. Then I tried to import the data, and nothing made sense. I typed in all the names that I saw, and had something ready for the event. Sure enough there were people that were missing from my list. Then we started the races. Every time someone wanted a second event, the computer needs to be updated. Try as I could, I missed some, and the computer then invented some new entries that I could not get out of.
To the rescue!!! Special thanks to Andrew Fisher, Victor Frolenko, and Wyatt Riley for steping in and getting us back up and running more than once. I am not sure how, but by the end we had the data properly entered and results should be posted very soon.
Thank you to Petr Hartman, who was drafted to vet and hang the courses for no other reason than he lives nearby (and he knows the park quite well since he drew it).
Thank you to Sharon Siegler, that put up with my swearing and frustration while accompaning me throughout the process.
And finally, thank you to the competitors for coming and making it worthwhile, and for dealing with my slow processing all night long. Without competitors, the work just isn't worth it.
