I'll leave all the detailed thank you's to Vadim for all the help we received today.  So many people chipped in throughout the day, and stayed around for pickup, it was a joy for our core team to be so supported.

But I wanted to simply thank all of you for the turnout today at Colliers Mills.  The last I saw, we had 117 Starts.  And with plenty of scout, jrotc, and family groups going out, the total participants may approach 150.  In New Jersey, no less!!

After the monsoons of last Sunday, I'm sure the weather (sunny and 50's even if in high winds) had much to do with it, but I saw plenty of people in high spirits as our season got off to a rousing start.  Ed Scott even mentioned that we may have broken the record for most participants at Colliers Mills ever!!!

As course setter, it's such a gratifying result to have lots of orienteers run your courses.  Hope you enjoyed the day in the surrealistic lunarscape of recently controlled-burned Colliers Mills.

I'll be sure to get the courses up on Route Gadget as soon as possible.
Sign in to log in your course routes -- another perk for a course setter.

    Thanks to all.

I would like to say thank you to all the volunteers who helped at the event. Without your help it would not happen. Thanks again.

Let me see if I can reconstruct all of our helpers.  If I leave you out, send me a nasty email. Sealed

Dan and Zac showed up early, helped out in multiple ways wherever we needed help.  Rick Slater was our Start Concierge, greeting everyone, including lots of scouts and jrotc, helping them feel welcomed and ready to go.  Doug, Dan, and Kathy filled in for Vadim with the epunch computer.  Pat and Bob Burton kept Registration going well beyond their plan, then Eugene took over, then someone (whose name I never got) finsihed off greeting and signing up people to our event.  Steve Mones showed up and taught a bunch of newbies.  Ed Scott helped in a variety of ways, especially in getting extra maps ready for the overflow. Ron Mavus, Uri, Petr, an Urban party clan, and Bob Fink all helped with pick-up.

And Vadim as ED filled in all over the place, holding fort and mixing it up with everyone at e-Reg and download and taking care of our team at every turn.

And anyone else who helped and I wasn't around to witness it,  "if a tree falls in the forest, and no one's there to hear it, ......."

Thank you all in making the day so much fun.

And congrats to Bob and the other main workers for hosting the largest Collier's Mills event in DVOA history.  The 153 participants using 117 maps, passed Bob's previous best turnout of 88 & 61 in 2008. Third place goes back to 2003.  All it seems to take is a warm and dry Sunday in March.
