2011 Northeast Junior Training Camp

Topic created by Guy-O on Tue Feb 22, 2011 at 3:53 amCalling all juniors!Announcing the 2011 Northeast Junior Training Camp at Blue Mountain Reservation, in Peekskill, NY, to be held on the second weekend in April.This camp is open to all junior orienteers who can complete a white course independently, and will focus on improving orienteering skills while promoting a fun social atmosphere. Lodging will be in bunkrooms at the Blue Mountain lodge, but space is limited to 15 girls and 15 boys. Food will be prepared by Janet Porter and the training will be organized by senior US Orienteering Team members and junior team coaches. Good times are guaranteed!Arrival will be on the evening of Friday April 8th at 6:00pm. The camp will continue through the weekend, concluding on Sunday, April 10, at Harriman State Park. In a change from previous camps, we will vacate the lodge by late morning, and travel as a group to an orienteering meet on the Lake Welch and Rockhouse maps. The meet will be conducted by Hudson Valley Orienteering (HVO), starting at 11am. After course reviews, the camp will wrap up with lunch and departure directly from the park.The cost is $85 which includes 2 nights of lodging, all meals, training, and transportation and entry to the HVO meet.Register by emailing Janet Porter at djporter2 AT verizon.net. At this point the boys dorm is half filled, so hurry guys if you want to attend this training camp. The girls dorm on the other hand is nearly empty so come on ladies get signed up for a great training camp. Whether you are a guy or a girl you have until the 15th of March to get registered and until March 20 to pay.
