The next event on our schedule is in March.  I guess there will be the traditional President's Cup, but I think we might be in Peru for the winter meeting.  Virginia is a 3 hour drive, don't think I can persuade my car pool to do it.  Anza Borrego is even further.  aaaarrrgh, I'm already getting agitated...SVO or HVO have anything going?  Does anybody remember the St. Valentine's Massacre?  It was a car rally on paper that you could do over the winter break using maps and an almanac.   Or maybe I could play Catching Features...or go hunt for geocaches...

I am working right now on getting the twice-canceled Tenafly Nature Center event back onto the schedule for some time in January or February.  I will not schedule it on either MLK weekend (GAOC) or the weekend of the Winter Mtg / Pres Cup -- which, rumor has it, will be the week after MLK.

@Kathy:  I did that armchair road rally once -- and have the red resin souvenir to prove it! Cool

We should be having an SVO event on January 22nd, this is an instructional event in conjunction with the park (Rocky Ridge again) but will only be W, Y, O courses and possibly a score-O. Keep an eye on our schedule.

QOC has Wheaton Jan. 9th and Greenbelt Jan. 23rd, both of which are northern suburbs of DC. It is easy to run first and then take the Metro into the city for the rest of the day to make the drive more worthwhile. (Both are in very close proximity to Metro station)

Winter is also a great time for planning courses for an event this spring.  Look over our schedule, pick an event and let me know.  We can't move forward on the finalizing an event on the schedule until we have a course setter and the assembly area established.

Anyone for a rerun of the July 2006 Daniel Boone Spell-O in February ? It would not take much work as I have plenty of maps left over. If the club can get the OK I would be willing to set up as a ski, snowshoe, foot-O; whatever the weather dictates. For those that did not attend this event in 2006 it is, by rules of the event, strictly on trails and open areas. Other modifications could be made to twist it a little for those who ran it before.  Any takers ?

Zac & I will be there (Unless there are extreme snow conditions that close roads).

OK we're looking at the possibility.  Boone has had loads of staff cuts, but seems to be open to the public for walking and outdoor recreation. My understanding is that the museum and other indoor stuff is being handled by volunteers on a limited basis.  If we can make contact and get permission look for it to show up on the schedule.  There are a couple more additions in process and of course I'd like to fill in course setters for those already on the tentative schedule... The most important ones are the New Jersey events.. (because of the permission process) and the venues we use more than once a year (French Creek, Fair Hill...)  because we can often lump them into a single permission application and save some fees.
