That is a VERY interesting thread on Attackpoint, with lots of food for thought. I note that the "starts" for DVOA in the spreadsheet posted today by Steve Tylock are 3905 for the year 2009, whereas Ed reports "attendance" at 5106. What's the difference between "starts" and "attendance"? Is that a meaningful distinction? I also note that DVOA is first in starts, members and O-days, so whatever it is we feel we should be doing going forward to grow, we are certainly not starting from scratch. I also noticed that Ridley Creek's meet this Sunday had over 50 orienteers who had run at no other meets this year - extraordinary, given that it was our last event of the year. I can think of a few possible strategies going forward based on that observation.
