    Hey folks,

Larry & I are 1st time event directors - so far everyone has been marvelous and we're learning a lot.  Wyatt stepped up to be course designer, and has created 3 cool courses: white, sprint, and "adventure run" (a course with the length of a red, all on trails, with lots of tricky route choices)!  Our maps and cue sheets are printed, we've got help with hanging the controls, and Kathy U. is loading up the laptop; it's all epunch (yes, there will be epunches for sale or rent if you don't have your own yet).

It's shaping up fantasticly - but as nervous 1st-time event directors, Larry & I sure would appreciate if everyone who is planning to volunteer signs up so that we KNOW we have adequate volunteers (for registration, finish, control pick-up, etc).  How do you sign up?  Go to the event page, check out Schuylkill on August 8, and click on the link to "volunteer for this event".  Then you can choose your job and your hours.

Everyone - check out the "course setter's notes" which are now posted on the "Home" news column.   This explains beautifully exactly what an "adventure run" is.

We had a course of Red length and White difficulty years ago at Pakim Pond.  We referred to it as the Pink course and it was a scenic route on the old map which included the cranberry bogs.  Adventure Runners is a much more descriptive and attractive title.  We won't be able to attend your event, but ask that you save a copy of the map and clues for the club scrapbook.  No hurry about sending it -- the winter meeting is ok.
    Thanks for all you do.

An extra attraction is the art on display in the woods:Cool http://www.schuylkillcenter.org/departments/art/exhibitions.html

Elemental Energy: Art Powered by Nature is The Schuylkill Center's 2010 On The Trails exhibition. Six artists or artist teams from around the country will present outdoor sculptural installations that engage a natural element - wind, water, sun - to create a dynamic or kinetic artwork. Each piece creates sound, movement, or both, using only the energy they harness from nature. These exciting works will be installed for visitors to The Schuylkill Center to discover along Widener, Woodcock, and Grey Fox Loop trails.
