I am looking for new sneakers. Does anyone have a recomendation? I have used and loved Montrail Hurricane GTX for years ,but they are no more. I  want a Gore-Tex, grippy, comfortable ,quality shoe. Thanks for any insight!

You might need to provide more specifics...

    - are you looking for training or competition (O') shoes?

    - how grippy is grippy?  Some road shoes claim to be grippy, but would not work on a wet log

    - comfortable usually means a good fit, which obviously is a personal thing.

    - I've heard as many objections to Goretex as the other way around--mostly about adding weight and making them harder to drain/dry (important after those stream crossings...)

    OK,
Looking for general purpose "O" shoes for Orange/Green slow run (knees)
I would prefer to stick to a wet French Creek rock
      I like a tight mocaasin/sock feel
I have liked Gore-tex to keep my feet dry in wet ferns, shallow creeks, mud puddles, etc. not concerned about stream crossings, then wet is wet.
                                  Thanks for your input.

I would recommend Salomon XA Pro or XA Comp shoes, either mesh top or GTX. But that is my personal opinion, every shoe fits differently.

I'd also recommend Merrell's gore-tex trail shoes. I'd prefer o-shoes for their sleekness (they get less tangled in the green stuff) but I have trouble finding o-shoes wide enough and Merrells come in wide as well as normal widths. They can take a beating and haven't leaked yet. They grip well to wet logs and those french creek rocks that we all love so much!

Thanks to all. I am going to try a pair of Solomons.
