Green Lanes needs lots of helpers

Topic created by Orienteeringmom on Sat Jul 17, 2010 at 4:32 pmI don't orienteer in the summer. I HATE summer weather, heat and humity, and we are having a lot of it this year. How did I end up as an event director in July? God knows but I am. I want this to be a fun event for everyone including me. Because of the two maps and 1.3K walk between them, I need more help than normal. The orange and advance runners have a remote start and I could leave it unmaned but because of the heat I don't want to do that. I want a person down at the remote start/punch out area from 10 - 1PM for safety reasons. I want a person at the top of the hill where the orange and advance runers start their second map and where the brown start from 10- 1PM and we need someone at the w/y start from 10-1PM working split shifts this requires 6 people right there. We still need two people at registration from 10-1PMand people for the epunch at the finish/result area. People to p/u controls and clean up the area. I could use one more people to hang controls on saturday AM and someone to hang some of the w/y controls early sunday as well as someone to help set everything up in all of the areas. So you can see in order for this event to be a well organized, well run and fun event for all, I need a lot of help and co-operation from everyone that is planning to come to Green Lane. Please don't wait until the last minute or day of to volunteer, please either contact me or go to the volunteer page and sign up. I really want this to be a good event and a fun event!
