Yes, we are on for Saturday!!!  (See the homepage write-up for all the details.)

AND we will need all the help we can get.  So please come out, enjoy the new map and the great forecasted weather, and please consider offering us at least a little volunteer time to make this event's extra jobs and procedures a painless process.

Please remember that you need to pre-register for this event.  The Park is requiring an advance list of participants and their cell phones.  The link for this process is listed in the homepage write-up.  It would be helpful to have all younger children on beginner courses shadowed by an adult (with cell phone).  And all you DVOA speed demons, please think about where you can squeeze a cell phone into your sleek aerodynamic O-suit. Surprised

Thanks everyone for hanging in there.  Hope to see lots of you in NJ just across the Delaware.

    Just as a follow-up.

I am currently compiling (with Mary's help) a final list of all the jobs and procedures which will be unique to this event.  So no need to sign up on the Volunteer page.  It doesn't come close to listing all the things we will need.

More useful for me would be to simply email your intentions to help out with approximate times, e.g. early (before running), later (after running), or middle, whatever....  And not to worry, we don't expect everyone to help out, or maybe you're not sure whether you'll be attending or not.  It would just be comforting if I know some of the extra help I could count on.

    Please email me at bobburg@verizon.net.

P.S. And do remember that whatever your intentions, if you are even considering attending, you need to pre-register.

    Is there a pre-registration cut-off time?

I would say Friday midnight is logical cut-off for pre-registration.

I encourage to use Volunteers Signup page to simplify logistics; just provide more generic positions and then assign actual tasks on Saturday. But it looks like we'll need everyones help to cover all aspects. So, please consider to help.

I visited the web page "http://www.nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/washcros.html" and I didn't find any regulation stating that park users must own cell phones. Is an orienteer excluded from this event if he or she does not own a cell phone?

We may be able to host a limited number of participants in your position Robert, so please pre-register with a note about your situation, so that we know of your request.

In general, anyone in a similar or parallel circumstance, please let us know.

And no, this requirement has nothing to do with state policy, only with the negotiations we have had with WashCrsg park officials to get this event approved.  We hope everything goes smoothly during the event, that we can satisfy the concerns of the park and build a lasting trust.  We will need everyone's cooperation.

May I suggest zip lock bags with some bright streamer tape inside to facilitate finding lost phones?

Anyone else having trouble with the registration URL?  I just get looped back to the main page.

There is no registration URL or link, it's just simple send e-mail to specified address. That's all.
