Hi All, while we are awaiting the Go-No Go about the Washington Crossing SP DVOA O meets, I wanted to see if anyone besides me had checked forest conditions after that nasty NJ October snow storm last year.  I did a conditioning O run (no map) about 3 weeks ago, there, and saw some extras branches down that were all new...  Alas, I did see two dog ticks but I flicked off one and sent the other to Tick heaven.  Ahem, DO Bring Tick spray if you go off trail at WC SP (this tip is for non-beginners) , no or very little ticks on the well maintained Wash Cross trails (major trails have all been cleared of minor branch drops apparently by trail volunteers).  All forests with deer have some sort of tick population.

Anyway, all I noticed was the typical WC SP thorne/Green bush under story, and also a few new rootstocks and more branches on the forest floor due to the old Fall suprise snow storm.  the understory is probably even greener due to the warm spring weather of late.  But I though to mention the new branches and occassional downed tree tops, so bring your jumping shoes and definately bring gaiters or long pants and long shirt sleaves.
It (new litter) is not exceedingly bad though, and I am sure in a few years the molds, fungus's and termites will get rid of it soon enuf. Can't wait to see the new DVOA map of washington crossing State Park
    see you in the forest
