Reply by edscott on Mon Mar 12, 2012 at 10:27 amAgree.. Good courses and good use of the map. I guess many people saw the results of the October snow storm at French Creek for the first time. A bright spot is that much of what came down was tulip poplar which rots rather quickly.

It was a great day with about 175 people on 142 maps. What I think is great is we used all 20 white maps, 25 yellow and 24 orange. Hopefully we will see these beginners again this spring.
It has a great day and I had a great time.
Thanks everyone! -
Reply by kathyu on Tue Mar 13, 2012 at 12:47 pmanyone have a feel for how the first timers heard about us? It seemed to me that we had first timers at all levels.

Reply by FredR on Tue Mar 13, 2012 at 2:38 pmMaybe we should be asking that question as a matter of course at registration--"Is this your first time? How did you hear about this event?" I'm not saying we need some tricked-out marketing data collection system, but something better than gut feel to report on.

Reply by edscott on Tue Mar 13, 2012 at 6:55 pmI talked with one that had been to Mary's recent Nolde Program. Ran Orange and did fine. Another one that might qualify as a first timer, since he hasn't done a course since he was in my Boy Scout troop about 25 years ago... Ran Brown and did well.
