Loved the Surf n Turf

Topic created by kathyu on Sun Jun 27, 2010 at 8:00 pmThank you Ed and Janet and all the helpers for a really fun day at Nockamixon. Thanks also to Steve Mones who talked me into getting into a canoe (whoops, I still owe you for half the canoe rental!) Also no thanks at all to whoever placed that control 9 on land. It just about killed me and I still didn't find it.

Reply by DaveUrban on Sun Jun 27, 2010 at 9:09 pmI don't know about the surf part, but I also loved the turf. BTW - I found #9 without trouble and just a little blood.

Reply by KathleenG on Sun Jun 27, 2010 at 10:15 pmHow about #9 on canoe-O, completely underwater? Not the fault of control-hanger, surely, but that was rather a challenge!

The Canoe-O was great. It is always fun to be on the water, and throw in a few controls and some challenging maneuvers in the shallows and you have a winning event. Thank you to Kathy for joining my crew and for not yelling at me when I grounded us on some rocks! I was envious of one team - Sharon and Steve could devote all their time to paddling as they had Demon to read the map (excuse me, chart). Thank you to all the lubbers who toiled away on shore to make this event possible.

Reply by edscott on Mon Jun 28, 2010 at 9:36 amResults are done and will be sent to Kent this morning. Look them over as it was a bit complicated to reconstruct everything and I could have overlooked some details especially with team composition. Just email me with any corrections and I'll make them.

Reply by edscott on Mon Jun 28, 2010 at 10:47 amA highlight of the event was the Thulls competing with a snake behind the bow plate of their canoe. He refused to leave or be dislodged so rode along the whole way. Maybe they should be listed as a group of 3?

Reply by Orienteeringmom on Mon Jun 28, 2010 at 5:34 pmThank you everyone for coming out and having fun on a very hot summer day. It made all of our work worth it. It was a fun day for all. Thank to all of the helpers we had through the day. A number of people pitched in as needed as we were a little under staffed at times. For me a very big thank you goes to Roger Hartley. He helped me with streamering, control hanging and gathering at the end yesterday. Roger I couldn't have done it without your help. Ed it was great to work with you once again. It's been while sent we worked so closely together. Finally thank you Julie for all your help in getting the pink cards in order and doing the math to make it easier to get the results done so quickly. Again thank you to all the club members that helped in so many ways to make the day a great success. That is why DVOA is the best club to be a member of we always work together to get it done.
