Hope you all will consider the drive to Rutgers on Sunday as the map is worth the drive and the climb is... like Bob Burg said ...minimal considering most of DVOA's terrain ...but there is enough change to make contour reading a little more fun than southern NJ maps (no offense to southern NJ).   Weather should be as good as it can get this time of the year with rain ending at about event start time (10am) or earlier.   If you have not been to this map I can tell you it is worth the drive.

In addition on Sunday December 9th the Quantico Orienteering Club (Baltimore/Washington area) one of our sister Mid-Atlantic clubs will host the Mid-Atlantic Championships in Maryland north of Washington D.C.  Although noted as a "Championship" event it will look no different in respect to a regular DVOA local event.  The one difference is that DVOA / QOC and the Susquehanna Valley Orienteers(SVO) will be competing for top club.  Part of the scoring considers the turnout of each club in relation to their membership....so everyone that attends the event from DVOA helps our results.  If you can fit this event into your schedule please do so....we want to retain the "Broken Compass" award for the top Mid-Atlantic club.   No matter how new you are ...please consider joining your orienteering family at this event.

The Mid-Atlantic Championship event has also been Sanctioned by OUSA as a National Ranking Event, so for those of you who attend National Events (A-meets), you have a chance to earn national ranking points in addition to helping boost your DVOA ranking.

QOC has a link on the event page for Mid-Atlantics for people to pre-register: http://qocweb.org/events/2018/12/9/seneca-creek-smokey-glen

Payment not required until you get there - this is to guarantee you a map for your course.

is there anyone Dvoa member from central NJ or northeast of Philly area who would consider car pooling part way with me to the mid atlantic  championships. dec 9 clopper park event?  3.5 hours solo drive ... is not that appealing unless i get a feasible part share ride (share $) but the mid atlantic reputation as a good event is attracted my interest to perhaps attend.  see me at rutgers meet or please email suggested  meet up location  by evening wed 5 dec   rrycharski345   at   optonline  dot net
