10/1/17
Welcome to White Clay Creek State Park! The map for today’s event was field-checked in 2013. Scale is 1:10,000 with 5 meter contour intervals. IMPORTANT NOTE: North arrows were not printed on the maps. North lines are shown and the top of the control descriptions printed on the front of the map are oriented towards north. We have added North arrows using labels to the White, Yellow and Orange maps.
Several minor updates have been made to show recent trail changes. The map accuracy is quite good. You may notice some new unmapped rootstocks and some of the mapped rootstocks have faded. A few of the mapped hunter stands are no longer present.
The Green, Red and Blue courses will cross White Clay Creek on bridges to access terrain on the east side of the creek. All other courses remain entirely on the west side of the creek. There are several private residences in the park that are marked on the map with red slash (out-of-bounds). The Deerfield golf course on the east side of the creek is also marked as out-of-bounds. Several trails on the west side of the park have “Trail Closed” signs that have been covered with “Trail Open” signs for this event – all trails may be used by event participants.
The Start is located a short walk from the pavilion – follow streamers. After completing your course, remember to report back to the download station. Control pick-up will begin no later than 3:30 pm. Volunteers for help with pick-up are always appreciated!
Enjoy the woods!

That's a great way to work on improving your orienteering skills. We could also use a helper at registration. To volunteer, go to the Event Schedule page and click on the "Volunteer to help at this event" link.
