Topic created by steveo on Fri Mar 10, 2017 at 2:04 pmHibernia Park recieved 4+ inches of snow today. The snow cover may make it difficult to set the course as we cannot see some features. Along with bitter cold temps predicted for Saturday and Sunday which will produce icy terrain, we may have to re-schedule this event. A FINAL DECISION WILL BE POSTED BY NOON ON 3/11/17

I wil be assessing the park today and tomorrow. Hibernia area recieved about 4.5 inches of snow. Melting is occurring today, but temperatures are falling to the low teens Friday, and Saturday nights. Trails may become Ice paths. High temperatures will not be above freezing Saturday thru late Sunday afternoon.
Check back Saturday afternoon / Evening for an update .... as Steve O has stated
Thank you! Scott Thatcher

Early Update... 7am Saturday....
I will be headed out to set the controls soon. The snow will stick around, but is gone from the park roads and some major paths. Expect 1-2 inches in the woods. Steve O or I will post again later but we plan to go ahead with the event! Course notes will follow.... Dress warm and Green!

Reply by bobburg on Sun Mar 12, 2017 at 1:27 amSeveral of my favorite O-events ever - both as particpant and as event director - occurred in snow cover. Made the events memorable....and loads of fun.Just give the staff extra hugs (and help) for "cold" duty.

Reply by Nancy on Mon Mar 13, 2017 at 8:44 amBig thank you to Steve, Scott and Mary for braving the cold to put on the event... and to put out a warm spread of food for the participants. This was a good opportunity to get into the woods (warmer than the open fields!) before the big snow.

Reply by ErikEddy on Mon Mar 13, 2017 at 11:45 amgreat March tradition... thanks for keeping it going! I was quite comfortable in the woods and the snow was more a visual splendor than a deterrant. good to shake off some cobwebs from the offseason.
