We look forward to hosting all of you at Rutgers Ecological Preserve next Sunday, Dec 4th.  Lots of new terrain now mapped (and used extensively in the courses) that will delight you.  It will practically be a map debut, and for many of you, your course will take you to terrain you've never seen before!

We're using a new staging site this year, so please follow the orange arrows and signs.  It's only 800m from our traditional area. Volunteer staff can park right at Registration, the rest of those attending will need to park only a short walk away (approx 400 meters?).

As of now we have a core staff, so we could definitely use a few more to help at set-up, registration, start, and instruction.  Our most pressing need is for someone to run the e-system at start of day.  (Please get in touch with me directly at bburg at comcast.net.)  We already have someone who will take over that role after running their course.  And as always, some help with pick-up from those who would like to check out the map and preserve a second time before it gets dark.

Since we are nearing the shortest day of the year, please start your course by 12:30.  If you need extended time on your course, noon would be even better.  Pick-Up will begin by 2:30.

    See you in the woods.

Oh!  And for an early heads-up for all of you, because of the hundreds of large route stock detail, we will be printing the course maps at 1:7500 for all courses.  This map begs for it.  So remember to bring your thinking caps with you, and wear them while running/jogging/walking your courses.

Hi Bob please tell us the Rutgers Preserve Parking lot number or if it is before or after the older lot on Avenue E?
I can imaginge only two RU parking lots within 1 km of last years lot that dvoa Members used  , one (to the Nwest) near the business multi story building  near the traffic circle and another (N East ) near the far end of Avenue E?

The old graphical DVOA PArking Icon (on our map/P Lot  location SW) also still locates the parking in the old #101 lot on avenue E ... that you mention is not being used.  maybe the DVOA webmaster or the IT helpers can move it if you identify where it should be placed  otherwise, see you on sunday and thank for adding the new map features, especially the  bear that looks like a  rootstock, and the rootstocks that look like a family of bears, near the path leading to the HeiKawie Indian Camp.   Larry Storch, Bear with me on this.. :-)

Give me the coords or a map showing the new parking area and I can do this one and add it to the Event Director's pull down list for any future use.

So, the new parking location is at the intersection of Rd 1 & Rd 3?

I have to say, that I am having a hard time figuring out where all this new terrain might be...  Undecided

"All this new terrain" is probably something Red and Blue have seen, but probably NEVER by White through Brown and maybe not even Green.  Some of it is dramatically beautiful, some of it is simply useful terrain that advanced courses can use to add new variety to courses.

And let me give everyone a heads-up.  Get to know what the "deep erosion gully" symbol looks like.
    Just sayin'.... Cool

Thanks for the heads up -- I'm going to look up that symbol. But How about updated driving directions to the new start?

For directions go to the schedule page and click on the map name.  A box will come up where you can enter your starting point and Google will give you a route.  You will need to zoom in to see the exact parking spot, but it will get you there.

Whoops, I didn't check for the change before asking. It's kind of around the corner from the old start on Avenue E. Thanks.

Yes.  If you look at the aerial photo there is a paved parking lot there.

Guy, you are correct. From the old start on avenue e it's just around the corner.
