As maps have gotten more detailed, I noticed some National Events have been using a 1:7500 over the traditional 1:10,000 for Brown courses.  I am curious if Brown runners would be interested in a 1:7500 map scale for Hay Creek event on 3/26.  Discuss:

At Anza Borrego this year they had 7,500 for a 4K clasic, 5,000 for a score-o, and 10,000 for the goat. I had a hard time sensing the climb severity on the 3 scales. Back to the discussion: I'm fine with 10,000 or even 15,000, just depends on the venue.

As I age, I dislike 1:15 more and more, but 1:7.5 is too much, either the paper is huge, or the course is too limited.

It totally depends on the terrain.  For some terrain - I'm thinking the wide open terrain in Georgia or many QOC parks - 1:10,000 is completely fine.  For other terrain - like the recent UNO maps that were full of boulders, or the Harriman maps - 1:7,500 is essential for me on brown.  I think Hay Creek is fine at 1:10,000 and I'm someone who now has to wear my reading glasses most of the time.

I prefer 1:10000. Have that imbedded in my brain so I can just look at the map and estimate the distance without spending time actually measuring it.
