Hey everybody! After roughly 6 years I'm back and intend on keeping it that way. Unfortunately the only things orienteering related that I have left are two left shoes and a pair of trimtex pants. Long story short my ex wife 'accidentally' might have thrown it all away. I found an old battered compass from my dad and my sisters old e-punch. Now I need shoes that fit. So I'm looking for advice here on shoes. I've been gone for a long time so I'm out of the loop. The last pair I bought were a pair of vj's and I liked them but they were a bit narrow. I've got rather wide flat feet so finding the right shoe is crucial. Any and all advice is appreciated feel free to chime in with anything here. Thanks. -Hunter

I have a wider foot also. I picked up a pair of VJ Falcons and the fit is good. They are a size 12 and you are welcome to try them on for reference.  I should be at Hay Creek tomorrow.

VJ's are in the past. There are new players on the market - look for Salomon Speedcross or Spikecross (w/metal cleats), new Icebugs also look and feel good if you have narrow feet, Inov-8 is another model to consider (Oroc-280 or Oroc-340). Most of them can be found on inet nowadays.

I run with Inov-8 Oroc-340 model (lasts forever, extremely durable) and also Salomon Spikecross. For the easy terrain, I use Salomon Speedcross model.

Also you can look for some trail running shoes.
