FCW Blue Course Note
-
Topic created by BobGross on Sat Oct 2, 2010 at 7:52 pmWhile hanging controls today we identified a potential conflict on the blue course. A group of about 100 men is using the woods for a Sunday service in a chapel they've constructed on the charcoal platform near control #5. In respect of their Sunday service, those considering running the Blue course should consider a later start.
Thanks,

Reply by BobGross on Sun Oct 3, 2010 at 8:20 pmThe Blue course runner (that is single runner) didn't report any conflicts and we didn't hear from the pulpit. So our presence didn't disturb the balance of the universe. Can I have an AMEN! to a great day in the woods this glorious Sunday?
Thanks to everone that helped, we have the best cogregation of any Sunday gathering I ever attended. I'll post a proper thank you list after some rest and I clear my head.

Thanks to you and the other volunteers for a great day in the woods. That long leg on the Red course was a thing of beauty! -

Reply by EricW on Mon Oct 4, 2010 at 8:16 pmI'd like to second the long leg comment, a great one, worthy of a nomination for leg of the month, or season, or whatever Clem has been calling it in the Briar Patch.
Note that this leg was used on all possible courses, Green, Red, and Blue.
Brown's routing couldn't get up to the starting point of this leg, but had a nice long leg as well. -
Reply by BobGross on Mon Oct 4, 2010 at 11:18 pmI just wanted to let everyone know. Chris should get the credit for the long leg and much of the courses. I designed them then Chris made them worthy of running. Most of his input was to remove or slightly move some controls. With more route choices and longer legs the main objective.
Someone, I think it was Petr, thanked us for that long leg. He said it was great to feel the wind in his hair as he ran that long down hill section.
Please enter your routes into RouteGadget. There must have been some creative ones on that leg.

Reply by hughmac4 on Tue Oct 5, 2010 at 4:04 pmIndeed Bob, I'm curious if anyone else took the left way through the start and across the dam like I did! I'd like to say that I weighed the pros and cons of either route, but really I just didn't have the gumption to go UP to the top of the hill before the downhill. For one brief moment down that road I was under 5 min/mile pace. Shazam! http://attackpoint.org/sessiondata.jsp?sessionid=1564946

Reply by FredR on Tue Oct 5, 2010 at 7:10 pmYes, I took the left route through Start and across the dam. I'm pretty sure I wasn't sufficiently motivated by that time to run THAT fast, though. I wasn't so much looking to avoid the short climb back up the hill as I was avoiding any temptation to go back through the woods (and thorns) if it wasn't necessary. Based on Hugh's nice time on that leg, it couldn't have been too bad a choice.

Reply by dparson on Wed Oct 6, 2010 at 6:08 pmLoved the long leg, although as route gadget will testify, my brother-in-law and I on "The Walk and Talk Tour" extended the length of that leg as far as possible without going OT, which was our goal. Thanks, Bob!
