    How was bike-o?

    How was mass start sprint?

Thanks for everyone who helped out; you know who you are.  I really appreciate you helping my crazy visions come alive!  And really thanks to everyone who tried the bike-o or the Sprint.  I was very pleased with the turnout.  Oh, and thanks for those (mostly everyone) who preregistered... that helped tremendously with planning.

And I must give a shout out to Sandy for helping me behind the scenes with various computer set-up to help pull off these events.

Good burgers, too!  What a nice park.

    Hi Erik,

I thought the Sprint loops were a fantastically elegant way to have a full sprint in a tiny park.  Great mass start, with everyone running in different directions!  Having those loops allowed you to send us out on what amounted to 6 different courses, and coming back to the same control between each leg kept us somewhat aware of how the pack was doing, but yet we weren't tripping over each other.

I'm curious to see the bike route - did it use the same controls?  If so, having a morning start for them, with a later start for the Sprint was another extremely elegant way to make use of a tiny territory.

    Kudos!

I did't get to do the bike-O, but I really wish I could have.

The mass start sprint was great. That was a wonderful venue for the event and the picnic.

Thought the Bike-O was great! Nice format. Let's do it again. Smile

We had a great day,  the bike o was fun,  the orienteering was great and so was the food.   What a nice way to spend the day in a pretty little park.  Even the business meeting was upbeat and positive, looking for creative ways to solve problems, and it was short!   Thank you  from the Burton Family

Enjoyed both events, but especially the Bike-O. (OK, I didn't enjoy the single big hill Laughing ) I like it when we do some non-standard events with different fun spins to them. I would have enjoyed sprinting more if I was less tired and it wasn't as hot, but those things can't be controlled. The course was nice and having the loops was fun too. Great job!

I had lots of fun on both the bike o and sprint, even tho I was slow. Thanks for doing this. It was great to do something completely different. I really appreciate all the work you put into constructing a great day.

We really enjoyed the bike-o but it made me feel like we were beginners again. There is a lot to think about in the transitions of the bike/foot sections and we were clumsy. The saving grace was that everyone was in the same boat. I would love to do it again. It also interested our kids, which was a plus.

The Sprint was great too. I had concerns about a mass start (because other orienteerers mostly confuse me) but having a 3-loop race was great.

Thanks for all the effort to put it together.

Very enjoyable event - was with a fun team for the "Eddython," and all of a sudden got myself caught up in the excitement of the sprint (rather unplanned).  Thanks so much for putting this on.

Also was informative to observe the summer meeting - this wonderful organization is like a well run machine...

Sorry I missed the event - was totally glued to the Netherlands v Mexico football game and what a game it was. That said bummer to have missed both the bike o and what sounds like a great sprint. Next time...

    Smile!

Results will be a little delayed, as Vadim is on vacation.  Thus, routegadget will be delayed as well; of course, it might take some teamwork to draw your route!

@KG The bike course purposefully did not have any overlap with any of the Sprint controls, although some were very close.  It also made more use of the east side of Perkiomen Creek by the John James Audubon Center property where there is some nice woods and unique ruins.  The Sprint map was a 1:5,000 portion of the entire 1:10,000 map.

@Len  I had a pretty good conversation with two coworkers who completed the course (Eric x 2).  It was interesting to hear about the transitions/teamwork.  And one thing I hadn't thought about much was the socialization at the break points mid-course when teams bunched.  They also commented that your family was.... "entertaining".

Even though I might have looked pretty frantic at times the day-of messing with the computer, I really enjoyed constructing the event and am glad it was well received.  We'll see what we have in store for next year...

'Entertaining'? That doesn't sound good. It must have been while I was in the woods :)
