Topic created by BRycharski on Sun Jun 8, 2014 at 10:58 pmI personnally thank All DVOA Meet workers (and 2 HVO vols) today at Quail Hill. Tremendous Vol efforts by all and especially Zac the course setter.
Results will be posted by Vadim within 48 Hours give or take.
Due to extended/temp Course closures and O marker 61 being retired by the camp owner rep., I reccomend that the Quail Hill WHOLE results be excluded from the DVOA yearly course rankings. Ranking guru's please contact me for details.
All Mid - day ( 11am thru 12:15 starts ) Courses were impacted to various extended delays and latter runners had new OOB boxes on there maps and also there was some outside interference (verbal Cabin NIMBY) delays and even 5 runners reporting back for involuntary restarts.
Sorry for those with good runs but the ED says the 13 unfairness gremlins and 7 retired snow snakes (They Trip the unwary foot runner Up!) were seen ... & they all were causing for much erratic course and clock grief today.
The good News FYI is that the #13 QH curse is now past, next time we will have smooth ride at Quail Hill camp, it is a good venue for O training. That and the Scouts and ROTC Cadets all love DVOA visiting this camp (to Hike) and thats THE important Thing! -

Reply by KathleenG on Mon Jun 9, 2014 at 7:45 pmWell, as Larry said, some Scout leaders are Scout leaders just because they are control freaks. Zealous (insert adjective here) Scout leader or wannabe apparently did not care that DVOA had permission, and paid extra fees, to set up a course in QH - a major part of which were courses for their scouts! For the record, the scouts were great. Encountered several as I did my course, and they were having a great time.

Of the many Scout (and Some ROTC cadet) compliments I got (post Quail run), this was this years Best. The 4 or 5 Scouts in a two team group, were invited by Me to share in some cool water and Oreo Cookies at the Finish line table.
The First boy o f the group was about to rush to get a treat, and the BSA sage Leader said, "Boys, don't you think you should First Thank Bob (The ED), first?" .... They (5) all froze, and turned to me and Shook my hand and thanked me, meaning it; then the adult leaders too. :-) MADE MY DAY!
THen we all went to the snack table & gobbled some post run Oreo's and talk about the Scout Yellow courses...
YA GOTTA believe IN OUR O Sport! Bob R
