Summer schedule

Topic created by edscott on Fri Jun 6, 2014 at 3:30 pmWe have two events on our schedule without any course setter or event director in place. It is getting close to the time when we will be forced to delete these events. If anyone wants to do Stucky Pond on 7/20 or Nockamixon on 8/17 let us know ASAP. Stuckey Pond should be regular courses, but Nockamixon could be a Canoe O, Score O, or some combination of the two. If those dates are OK, but you want another location; or those locations work, but for a different date just ask. We'll do our best to make things work.

As I debate signing up for US Individual Champs, I realize I have very little experience with the "Sprint" discipline, as it was not around in my Junior heydays (<=2005). It seems like an enjoyable format, and a change of pace. I've discussed this some with members.
Are there any course setters that enjoy making Sprint courses? What's our best maps for Sprint? Maybe some course setters would consider adding a Sprint to a regular event? I enjoyed Springton Manor last year. Or Saturday (even weekday) event? I'll have one on 6/29! -
Reply by edscott on Tue Jun 10, 2014 at 7:23 pmWe have several maps that are suitable for sprints and a few that are ideal for them instead of regular courses. A sprint can be designed on a small bit of a map that is otherwise out of date like Daniel Boone... or other smaller areas like Ft Washington, Myrick, Hibernia... My next mapping project, assuming we get the last permission that we need, will be primarily a map for introductory programs; but is also an ideal sprint venue.

Reply by edscott on Sun Jun 29, 2014 at 6:46 pmSome changes had to be made to the 2014 schedule.I've deleted the Stucky Pond event that was on the summer schedule. There were no volunteers and now there are only a couple weeks to design and print courses.I've switched the Delmont and the FC East events. The FCE weekend was taken by a QOC A event so it makes more sense to use a lower profile map that weekend. There is a strong rumor that Nockamixon will happen, but in some form of land O format. I've listed it as WY and Advanced, but that may not be the final version.
